SOUTH BEND - Mary C. Drabecki passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the age of 94. Mary was born July 13, 1919 in Black River Falls, WI to the late Adam and Katherine Rybski. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Julius A. Drabecki; brothers, John and Michael Rybski; and sisters, Stephanie Mika, Josephine Stromski and Helen Andrulewicz. Mary, as a young girl along with her family, moved to Chicago, where she was later employed by Western Electric. On July 31, 1948 at St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Chicago, Illinois Mary married Julius A. Drabecki. She and Julius then moved to South Bend, IN after they were married. While living in South Bend, she was employed by The University of Notre Dame, Ball Band and Uniroyal from which she retired. Mary was an avid gardener, loved nature, flowers and caring and feeding all types of birds. She will always be remembered for her logo of a Tall Sturdy Oak Tree. Mary is survived by her children, John J. (Judy Jankowski) Drabecki of Granger, Robert M. (Susan) Drabecki of Ft. Wayne, and Linda M. (James C. Hildabridle) Basker of South Bend; brother, Walter Rybski of Inverness, FL; grandchildren, Nicole Drabecki, Jennifer Gerber, Jeanine Kocsis, Sarah Rippe, Jaime Drabecki-Findley, Lauren Kimes, Natalie Naragon, and Kyle D. Basker; and also ten great-grandchildren. Mary was a parishioner of St. Hedwig Catholic Church where she was a member of the Holy Name Society, The Golden Cluster and was a member of the Polish National Alliance. First and foremost, Mary loved and enjoyed spending time and traveling with her husband Julius during their 65 years of marriage, as well as with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid lover of Polka music, loved to dance and enjoyed attending Polish festivals and activities throughout the country. Visitation for Mary will be from 2:00pm to 6:00pm Sunday, February 2, 2014 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Monday, February 3, 2014 in St. Hedwig Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St Joseph Cemetery.
