Philip Geminder May 19, 1925 - July 16, 2014 GALIEN - Philip H. Geminder, 89, of Galien, Michigan, died Wednesday morning, July 16, 2014. Phil was born May 19, 1925, to Otto Philip and Emma (Hall) Geminder at the family's home in Galien Township. He graduated from Galien High School in 1943. He married Yolanda Marino on August 9, 1954, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage before her death on February 27, 2005. Phil was employed at Bendix Corporation for 34 years and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Galien Village Council and had served as the Village President; he was also on the Galien Volunteer Fire Department for years and had served as Fire Chief. Phil bought and refurbished homes in the area which he rented out. He loved flowers and supervised gardening projects. Phil was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Buchanan. He and Yo loved to travel and took many trips together. Phil enjoyed being around people and was known for his quick wit. Survivors include his children, Carol Trueman of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and Philip (Annette) Geminder II of Roswell, Georgia; grandchildren, Traci Lyn (Darryl) Wright, Kristopher Allan Trueman, Annette E. Geminder and Philip H. Geminder III; and his great-grandson, Devin Allan Wright. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, William Trueman. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Buchanan, Michigan, with Father Richard Altine as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in South Bend, Indiana. Visitation will be from 5:00 8:00 pm today at Pobocik Funeral Home in Three Oaks, Michigan, with a Scripture Service at 7:00 pm today at the funeral home.
