May 15, 1934 - May 31, 2012 SOUTH BEND - Rodney James "Andy" Anderson, 78, loving husband, father and son, went home to rest in the arms of his Father on May 31, 2012. Left to cherish his life, quiet strength and loving nature are his wife, Barbara L. Anderson; children, Andy James Anderson, Jo Lynn (Tyrone) Armstead; grandchildren, Elizabeth Lidecker, Robert T. (Angel) Weist, James Weist, David Coughlin, Steven (Sarah) Anderson, Rebecca Anderson and Brandon Riedel; and great-grandchildren, Wiley Weist, Ellesha Lidecker, Jaxson Lidecker and Aaron Ryan Anderson. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Barbara Brunette; and siblings, Norma Stemm, Robert "Bobby" (Nancy) Anderson, Joseph (Peg) Brunette and James (Rose) Brunette. Rodney was preceded his death by his daughter, Theresa Sue Anderson; parents, Elmer James and Francis Louise Anderson; father-in-law, Donald Brunette; and siblings, Betty LaBelle, Ruthy McCreary, Verna Jean (Bob) Lingren and Don Brunette. Rodney served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, and was a longtime member of VFW Post #360. He retired in 1996 as Assistant Manager from Amoco Oil. Serving as a Marine, as well as his family, were his most proud accomplishments. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday, June 4, 2012, in Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, with Rev. Greg Crump officiating. Military graveside rites and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm Monday in the funeral home prior to services.
