GRANGER - Thomas George Foley, born in Granite City, Illinois on July 13, 1938, was the son of Thomas W. Foley and Jessica M. Foley and grew up in Illinois. He attended Venice High School and graduated salutatorian of his class in 1956. He married the love of his life, Doris Pickens Foley, four years later on August 13, 1960 and, together, they raised three children. Foley is an alumni of Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, from which he graduated with bachelor degrees in both Chemical Engineering and Computer Technology. He later furthered his education at Indiana University, in South Bend, Indiana, having obtained a Masters in Business Administration. Foley started his postgraduate career working for a metals refining company in Missouri for a year and a half. He transferred between Granite City, Illinois, Edinburgh, Indiana, Elkhart, Indiana and Dayton, Ohio, spending much of his time traveling to and working for those divisions in Israel, Columbia, Brazil and Mexico, retiring from Bayer after 36 loyal years of service. Foley later worked as an independent consultant, resulting in significant time spent both in Kentucky, while working for Martek Biosciences Corp., and in India, while consulting for Tate and Lyle. In 2001, Foley accepted a position working for Valley Research in South Bend, Indiana for an additional seven years. Although his career and education were important aspects of his life, Foley also had an infinite love for reading, music, fishing, travel, and technology but nothing was more important to him than his love for and his dedication to his family.
