Alfred J. Butch Borges Jr., 85, of Brockton for the past 40 years, died peacefully April 11, 2014. Native of Roslindale, he graduated from Hyde Park High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He served aboard 4 aircraft carriers including the U.S.S. Midway and earned the Korean Service, United Nations China Service, Good Conduct, Navy Occupation Service and National Defense Medals. He also studied at Wentworth Institute. He was a self-employed carpenter by trade all his life. He was an avid hockey fan and enjoyed talk radio, ballroom dancing, telling stories and charming the ladies. He was the beloved husband of Betty (Bronson) (Fink) Borges for 38 years; loving father of Patricia Delorey and her husband George of E. Weymouth, Denise Sullivan and her husband Paul of So. Weymouth and the late Deborah McGinnis; stepfather of Donald Fink and his wife Colleen of Ansonia, Conn., Michael Fink and his wife Donna of Florida, Cheryl Waugh of Brockton and the late George and John Fink; dear grandfather of 14 and great-grandfather of 4; brother of Rev. Lawrence Borges of Roslindale and Marie Quinn and her husband Jack of Marion; and an uncle of many. All are welcome to calling hours Monday 4 - 8 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Chapel at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, his funeral from Waitt Funeral Home Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, and burial at Mass.
