Charles F. Foley Jr., 88, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died Feb. 17, 2014. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and within that time was assigned to the 1st Marine Division 3rd Battalion. He returned and proudly served as a firefighter for 36 years for the Brockton Fire Department. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and for sharing his crop was known by some as Charlie Tomato. He was the husband of the late Arena (Woodman) Foley; beloved father of Charles Foley III and his wife Jill of Brockton and Barbara-Lee Kelly and her husband John of Abington; loving grandfather of Christopher Kelly and his wife Susan, Michael Kelly, Timothy Kelly, Shawn Rollins, Ryan Foley and Maribeth Fitzpatrick and her husband Owen; dear great-grandfather of Evan, Andrew and Joshua Kelly; brother of the late James M. Foley; and an uncle and cousin.
