David Kelly Obituary

David Paul Kelly, 47, of East Falmouth, died unexpectedly at home June 7, 2013. Born in Boston, he was the son of Dorothy L. (LeFave) Kelly and the late Michael F. Kelly, who died in 2005. David spent his early years living in the Dorchester section of Boston until his family moved to Quincy when he was 12. He graduated from Quincy High School and lived in Quincy until his early 20s, when his family moved to Falmouth. Shortly after moving to Falmouth he continued his familys tradition of military service. He served in the Marine Corps and participated in Operation Desert Storm. He was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Southwest Asia Service Medal and the National Defense Medal. He was very proud of his military service. David was a plumber by trade and had worked at Bennett Plumbing at one time. He was an avid sports enthusiast, but most of all he loved watching football. His friends and family will remember him as a gentle soul with a heart of gold. He was generous with his love, friendship and his material things. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brothers, Bruce Kelly of Quincy and Stephen Kelly and wife Jean of East Falmouth; his sister, Karen Kelly of Provincetown; plus several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Dennis J. Kelly, who died in 1988, and Michael B. Kelly, who died in 1997, and most recently his sister, Paula Murphy, who died in 2008. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 10, at 11:15 a.m. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. There are no calling hours. If desired, memorial contributions in honor of David may be made to the David P. Kelly Memorial Fund, c/o Rockland Trust, 397 E. Falmouth Hwy., East Falmouth, MA 02536.
