Donald E. "Don" Campbell, 92, of Brockton died July 13, 2014, after a short illness. He was the husband of the late Bertha (Beecher) Campbell. Born July 28, 1921, in Manchester, N.H., he was the son of the late Elton and Edith (Luce) Campbell. Donald was a graduate of Brockton High School and a 1949 graduate of Aurora (Ill.) College. Don was a resident of North Easton for over 50 years but most recently was living at the Emmanuel House Residence in Brockton. Retiring in 1983, he had worked as a welder at Bath Iron Works, a chemist for Plymouth Rubber Co. and as a supervisor for the Massachusetts Department of Employment Security. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1942-1945 and was stationed on various islands in the South Pacific where he was an aeronautic engineer. He was an active member of the Evangelical Congregational Church of Easton, and enjoyed stamp collecting, geology, Bible study, crossword puzzles, friends and family. He is survived by 5 children, Donna L. Stewart of Pittsfield, N.H., Bruce E. Campbell of Brunswick, Maine, Beverly A. Campbell of Somerville, Lee A. Campbell of Boston and James T. Campbell of Watertown; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a cousin and seven nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place Thursday, July 17, 2014, from 4-8 p.m. in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St., Brockton. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 18, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
