Frank Edwards Jr., 91, of Bridgewater, died peacefully March 2, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Frank was born in Plymouth, to the late Francisco and Maria (Monteiro) Eduardo. Growing up in North Plymouth, Frank started working at an early age for the Cordage Company in Plymouth. He joined the Navy at age 20 and proudly served aboard the USS New Jersey (BB62) (plank owner) during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Frank owned Edwards Diner on Route 28 in Pocasset for 15 years, and worked for Parkway Distributors/Big L/ Mall Drugs as a field supervisor for over 40 years. Retiring in 1986 from Pharmacity Drug Store. Frank was a longtime member of the USS New Jersey Veterans Inc. and VFW Post 2125. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Susanne E. (Waugh) Edwards; his daughter, Julie A. Edwards and her wife Linda Scheck-Edwards of Sandwich; son, Robert F. Edwards and his wife Karen Brennan of Quincy; and daughter, Holly Edwards-Decker and her husband Nikolaus Decker of Plymouth; grandfather of Benjamin, Harrison, Jackson and Kai; brother to the late Mary Patrico, Jack Patrico, and John Edwards. He is also survived by many loving friends and relatives, along with his faithful canine companion, Molly. Visiting hours will be held at the Prophett-Chapman Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., in Bridgewater, Saturday, March 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial will be held privately.
