Gerald F. Cobis Obituary
Gerald F. Jerry Cobis, 62, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died Aug. 5, 2014. A 1970 graduate of Brockton High School, he was a U.S.M.C decorated combat veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the D.A.V. Gerald worked as a machinist for Gorman Machine in Brockton from 1972-2011. He enjoyed playing golf and caring for his dog Ginger and was a past member of D.W. Field Golf Club and Brockton Country Club. He was an active volunteer in local political campaigns. Jerry was the 12th of 13 children of the late Julius and Julia Cobis; beloved brother of Raymond of Reno, Nev., Pauline Peterson of West Bridgewater, Michael (and Margaret) of South Easton, Marion Harrington of Venice, Fla., Charles (and Donna) of Punta Gorda, Fla., James (and Grace) of Lakeville, Ann Flaherty of Brockton and the late William, Donald, John and Richard Cobis and Patricia Lodge; brother-in-law of Kathryn Cobis of Fla.; an uncle and great-uncle of many nieces and nephews; and a friend of many. All are welcome to calling hours Friday 4-8 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Chapel at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Funeral from Waitt Funeral Home Saturday at 9 a.m., funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Parish, Brockton. Cremation and private committal at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
