Joseph H. Howard, Jr., 69, of Elm Terrace, North Attleboro; formerly of Easton; died on July 6, 2014 at the Kindred Hospital in Stoughton. He was the beloved husband of Jacqueline R. (Burke) Howard. Born in Steubenville, Ohio on Dec. 6, 1944, he was a son of the late Joseph H. Howard Sr. and Mary V. (Irwin) Howard. He was a 1962 graduate of Weirton High School and studied at Liberty Bible College. Mr. Howard was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. He was employed as a mental health worker for the former Taunton State Hospital for 26 years prior to his retirement in 2001. In addition to his wife, he leaves a son: Joseph H. Howard, III and his wife, Suzanne J. (Hayes) Howard, of Attleboro; a grandson: Joseph H. Howard IV of Attleboro; a sister-in-law: Valerie J. Burke of Everman, TX; two brothers-in-law: Phillip C. Burke of Cumberland, RI and James W. Burke in New Jersey; a nephew: Jason J. Burke of Everman, TX and several cousins, extended family members and dear friends. Father of the late James Henry Howard. Visitation with Veterans Honors on Thursday from 10 | 11 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service with Veterans Honors immediately following visitation on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home. Inurnment with military honors will be private in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
