Paul A. Canavan Obituary
Paul A. Canavan, 65, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died July 9, 2014. He volunteered for the Marines and was on Parris Island at Marine Corps Basic Training the day after he graduated high school, serving from 1967-1975. He was employed by Mass. D.O.T. as a construction supervisor and was a member of the Polish White Eagles, VFW Post 1046 and Conte Club. The patriarch and rock of the family, he was a friend to everyone. He enjoyed motorcycling and everyones grandkids. Paul was the son of the late George and Bernice Canavan; beloved husband of Christine E. (Darling) Canavan, Mass. State Rep., for 45 years; loving father of Derek Canavan and his wife Kimberly of Taunton and Clifford Canavan and his wife Kristi of Canton, both Brockton High School teachers; devoted Papa and Grandpa of Celia, Holly, Evelyn, Jack, James and Brody; dear brother of Timothy Canavan and his wife Jeanne of CT, Nancy Bodycote of NH, Larry Canavan of FL, Cindy Reinhardt and her husband Bernie of AZ, Christopher Canavan and William McNulty of Lakeville and Peggy Lambert and her husband Paul of Haverhill; favorite nephew of Marnie Clifford of Brockton; and an adored uncle of many nieces and nephews. All are welcome to calling hours Saturday, July 19, from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. prayer service in Waitt Funeral Chapel at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Cremation and private committal.
