Russell L. King Obituary
Russell L. King, 95, of North Road, Alstead, N.H., and formerly of Hanson, Mass., died May 2, 2014, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, N.H. He was born April 4, 1919, in Brockton, Mass., the son of Charles H. and Evelyn (Sartwell) King. Mr. King attended schools in Hanson and Whitman, Mass., and worked at Independent Nail in Bridgewater, Mass., for 36 years. He retired to his beloved N.H. in 1986 and loved every day. He was a veteran of the United States Army from 1941 to 1945, earned the Purple Heart and five battle stars. Mr. King was a member of the 3rd Congregational Church of Alstead, worked and delivered meals for Alstead Friendly Meals and was a member of the Prentice Hill Grange. He leaves his wife of 66 years, Marie Foster King; also four children, Russell King and his wife Nancy of Duxbury, Mass., Linda (King) Wilcox of Danbury, N.H., Steven King and his wife Diane of Halifax, Mass., and Michael King of Hanson, Mass.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis of Kingston, Mass.; and one brother, Charles of Halifax, Mass. A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family. Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home, Bellows Falls, Vt., is handling the arrangements.
