Sam F. Carchidi, of Cataumet, passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at his home. He was 89. He was the beloved husband of Theresa C. (Quinn) Carchidi. Sam attended Brockton High School and Morehead State University. He was a proud veteran of World War II in the U.S. Navy and was a decorated crew member of the Destroyer USS Albert W. Grant as an Electrician Mate First Class, which saw action in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Carchidi was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Sons of Italy. He was employed by Boston Edison Company for 47 years attaining the post of vice president of Public Relations and then as a Public Utilities Lobbyist in the firm of Joyce, Capeless, Kilroy, McNulty and Roddy in Boston. In addition to his wife, Sam is survived by his son, Paul J. Carchidi, Esq. and his partner Dr. Eric W. Hafner of Brockton; his daughter, Susan Carchidi and her husband Michael Smith of Plymouth; his brother, Dr. J. Edward Carchidi and his wife Barbara of Brockton; his sister-in-law, Alyce Carchidi of Brockton ;and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Sam was predeceased by his siblings, Frank P. Carchidi, Raymond G. Carchidi and Angela M. Lyons. A period of visitation will take place from 10 a.m. -11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 584 West Falmouth Hwy. (Rte. 28A), West Falmouth. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Friday, Dec. 20, in the Saint John the Evangelist Church, 841 Shore Road at Barlows Landing, Pocasset.
