Scott Stephen McCann, 61, of East Bridgewater, left his family Tuesday, May 7, 2013, after a brief illness. Scott was born in Brockton, the eldest son of Colleen Sullivan and the late Wallace McCann. Scott was a dedicated public servant. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force upon graduation from East Bridgewater High School and served six years overseas in the Air Force Medical Services, achieving the rank of sergeant. After returning home, he worked for the City of Abington Fire Department and Norfolk Bristol Ambulance. Scott joined the East Bridgewater Department of Public Works in 1982 and had been the Superintendent of the Water Department since 1993. In his free time, Scott enjoyed golfing, barbecuing, and was a Patriots season ticket holder and lifelong Boston sports fan. He was a member of the East Bridgewater Commercial Club and gave freely of his time and energy to several causes. He was a friend to many. Scott's kind and gentle spirit, interest in others, and easy-going nature gave comfort to all who knew him. He will always live in his family's hearts. Scott is survived by his mother, Colleen Sullivan of Middleboro; his brothers, James McCann and his wife Mary of Whitman, Robert McCann and his wife Maureen of St. Louis, Mo.; and his sister, Colleen Murray and her husband Jacob of Nashville, Tenn.; his two nephews and two nieces, James, Kevin and Victoria Murray of Nashville, Tenn., and Jennifer McCann of Abington. Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Ghost Church, 518 Washington St., Whitman, Friday, May 10, at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the
