Shirley A. Lundgren Obituary
Shirley A. (Mangan) Lundgren, of Avon, passed away after a brief illness, on July 4, 2014, at the age of 82. Born in Framingham, Shirley grew up in Ashland and graduated from Ashland High School. She later married her husband Carl and they settled in Avon. After raising 7 children, Shirley decided to go back to school where she graduated with honors, from Blue Hills Technical Institute, with her Associates Degree as a Medical Assistant. Shirley then began an 18 year career as a medical transcriber at the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton. Shirley was an active member of her community in Avon and in Punta Gorda, Fla., where she has wintered for many years. In Avon she was an active member of St. Michaels Church and a member of the Womens Sodality, and a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Avon VFW Post. In Florida, she was an active member of the Eagle Point community, where she lived. In her free time she enjoyed walking and was an avid New England Sports fan; however, spending time with her family and grandchildren is what brought her the most joy. Shirley was the beloved wife of the late Carl Lundgren. Loving mother of Carl Lundgren of Avon, Stephen Lundgren of Margate, Fla., Kenneth Lundgren of Avon, John Lundgren of Taunton, James Lundgren of Weymouth, Robert Lundgren of Northridge, Calif. and Susan Flynn of Scituate. Devoted sister of John Mangan of Ashland and the late Francis Mangan, Norma Carulli and Robert Mangan. Also survived by 8 grandchildren. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St. (Rte. 28), Randolph, until 9:15 a.m. on Thursday followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Michaels Church, Avon. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 | 8 p.m. . Burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
