Dana D. Giles of Rockland,. Dana died peacefully on January 17th at Webster Place Healthcare with family by his side. He was born in Penobscot, ME in 1924 and at a young age, he was shown how to hunt and fish. Dana continued to be an avid outdoorsman throughout his life. He was very proud to serve his country as a US Marine in WWII earning a Purple Heart during the battle of Iwo Jima. After the war, he returned to Maine and married Jaqueline Miller. They moved to Milton, MA where they raised their family. Dana had a great love for family, his bird dogs, boats and humor! He did not go through life un-noticed! Dana is survived by his wife and best friend of 35 years, Bette. His loving children, Glenn and his wife Gloria, Craig and dear friend Diane, Gary, Curt and his wife Sheila, Sharon and her husband Bill, Jeff and his wife Kerry. Grand children Dana, Gregory and his partner, Brianna, Leigh and her husband Brad, Kim and her husband, Jesse and Rebecca. Great Grand Children Carter, Camden and Corbin, sister-in-law Joan and many nieces, nephews and friends. Dana was predeceased by his brothers Hubert and Merrill. Any donations in Danas memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. A celebration of his life is planned for the spring.
