Edward C. Starck, age 81, of Quincy, died peacefully, Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the Florida Hospital in Tampa, Florida, in the presence of his daughter, Robin. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, raised and educated in Oak Park, Illinois. He lived in Quincy for over fifty-five years. Edward was employed as a custodian in the Quincy Public Schools for eight years and retired in 1996. He previously worked as a millwright with the Amstar Corporation for twenty-six years and earlier as an outside machinist at the former Fore River Shipyard in Quincy for several years. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and attained the rank of Sergeant. Edward was a member of the Cyril P. Morrisette American Legion Post #294 and a longtime parishioner of Saint John the Baptist Church, both in Quincy. He was well known for his love of cooking and he was devoted to his family. Beloved husband of the late Ann E. (DiMartinis) Starck who died this past July. Devoted father of Michael J. Starck and his wife Linda of Quincy, Kathleen L. Coughlin and her husband James of North Easton, and Robin M. Burke of Tampa, FL. Loving grandfather of seven grandchildren and cherished great-grandfather of four great-grandchildren. Brother of Oscar Starck of Colorado, Donald Starck of Illinois, Judy Foley of Kansas, and Martina Hough of Illinois. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, Monday, March 18th at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy at 10 oclock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the funeral home Sunday 2 | 6 p.m. Interment with Military Honors at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
