Edward G. Keegan, 89 years of age, entered Life Eternal at the South Shore Hospital on Wednesday, June 25, 2014. He was born in Weymouth and graduated from Weymouth High School with the class of 1942. He served overseas with the U.S. Navy during World War II. Edward was a crane operator in the construction field. He belonged to the International Union of Operating Engineers AFL-CIO Local 4 in Boston. He taught apprenticeship courses through the union. He was an active communicant of the Immaculate Conception Parish in East Weymouth where he served as a Lector. He served on the committee for the Cardinal Cushing School in Hanover. Edward was an avid golfer at the South Shore Country Club in Hingham and was a member of the Quimet Golf Scholarship Committee. Edward was a member of the Guiseppe Verdi Lodge of Sons of Italy 278 in East Weymouth. He is survived by his beloved wife Marie E. (Abruzese) Keegan. He was the devoted father of Daniel Keegan married to Sandra Keegan of Plymouth and Richard E. Keegan whose significant other is Stephen Holmes of Bourne. He was the father of the late Diane Keegan Dempsey. He was the loving grandfather of Lynn Smith married to Richard, David Keegan married to Jocelyn, Danielle and Chris Messina, Jaime Keegan, Erin and Jeff Macey and Caleb Keegan. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Church, Broad Street, East Weymouth on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 10:30 A.M., followed by a private burial at Saint Francis Xavier Cemetery, Weymouth. A reception will be held after the Mass and those attending the Mass are invited to attend the reception at a location to be announced. Memorial donations may be sent to Saint Colettas School, 405 Washington Street, Hanover, MA. 02339. Arrangements are by the Peck Funeral Home, Weymouth.
