Francis J. Frank Cassani, of Weymouth, died Nov. 19, 2013 at the age of 89. Frank grew up in Chelsea and has lived in Weymouth for the last 61 years. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal during the Battle of the Bulge. Frank was very active in the town of Weymouth. His career in education spanned 36 years including being principal of the Shaw, Bicknell Jr., Central Jr., and East Jr. schools, retiring in 1985. After retiring, Frank could often be found at the Johnson Early Childhood Center where he volunteered his time reading to children. As a man of strong faith, he was an active parishioner of Immaculate Conception Parish where he taught CCD for many years. He was a member of their choir and served as the director of the Mens Choir for over 40 years. Frank was also a skilled builder, often lending a hand to anyone with a project in need. He will be remembered as a kind and loving man with a passion for teaching and helping others. Beloved husband of 61 years to Marie (Lipuscek) Cassani of Weymouth. Devoted father of Richard Cassani and his wife Mary Ellen of Weymouth and Anne Conner and her husband Paul of Littleton, N.H. Loving brother of the late Vincent L. Cassani, Theodora Sweeney-Berry and John A. Cassani. Cherished Grampa of Rev. John A. Cassani, Lisa M. Conner, Christopher R. Cassani and his wife Laura, Kristina M. Conner, MD, Richard F. Cassani, Jr. and great-granddaughter Isabella Marie Cassani. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 3 - 7 p.m. in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, South Weymouth, at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital) Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 11 a.m. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
