Fred J. Affsa, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014. A longtime Weymouth resident and a WW II Army veteran who had served in the Pacific Theatre, one of The Greatest Generation. Retired U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Meat Inspector and former co-owner of Caesars Restaurant, Quincy and Connies Restaurant, Hanson. A talented carpenter, a 50 year member of West Roxbury Masonic Lodge and a 50 year member of the Quincy Lodge of Elks. Freds greatest joys were his family, his daily Elks card games and rolling the dice at Foxwoods. The beloved husband of the late Constance T. (Mauriello), he is survived by his devoted children: Diane C. Affsa of Quincy, Daniel F. Affsa, Esq. and his wife Patricia of Weymouth, Doreen A. Affsa of Abington and David J. Affsa of Marshfield, his grandchildren; Deborah Mahoney Olsen of Dorchester, Christopher D. Affsa of Weymouth, Cara Mahoney Snyder of Quincy, Daniel F. Affsa Jr. of Weymouth, Chad F. Affsa of Whitman, 10 cherished great-grandchildren, his sister Tillie Kandalaft and her husband Tony, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was the brother of the late Charles, George, Edward and Russell Affsa, Lilly Maloof and Rose Salhaney. Funeral Service at St. John Damascus Church, 300 West St., Dedham (corner of Rte's 135 & 128) (Exit 17) Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Visiting at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton, Wednesday 4 to 8 p.m. Interment Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
