John A. deCourcy, 81, of Rockland died Nov. 6, 2013, at South Shore Hospital. He was born in Weymouth, son of the late John and Evelyn (Botto) deCourcy. He was raised and educated in Rockland and was a member of the Class of 1950 at Rockland High School. John was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean War. For 56 years, he was the proprietor of Johns Pembroke Barber Shop and served as a Notary Public for the Commonwealth. He was a member of the Venezia Lodge 374 of the Sons of Italy and he enjoyed fishing, gardening, movies and playing cards. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy (Rockett) deCourcy; and three sons, John A. deCourcy and his wife Sandra of Moultonborough, N.H., Daniel S. deCourcy and his wife Christine of Wareham and David J. deCourcy of Rockland. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 nieces, Debbie and Donna Boehner of Fla. The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate his life at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St., Rockland, Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, from 4-7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated in Holy Family Church, 403 Union St., Rockland, at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12.
