John J. Cantwell, lifelong resident of Belmont and a resident of Manomet since the 1960s, died April 27, 2013. A Vietnam War U.S. Marine Corps veteran and lumberman, he was the son of the late Francis and Lillian (McCarthy) Cantwell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie (Kent) Cantwell, sister, Ellen Healy, brother-in-law, Paul Healy, and infant brother, Francis. He was the loving father of Rose March "Maggie Rose" of Belmont; stepfather of Patricia Anderson of Morris, Conn.; brother of Thomas "Tim" Cantwell of Northboro. Also survived by eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one niece; and five nephews. Funeral from the Brown & Hickey Funeral Home, 36 Trapelo Road, Belmont, Thursday, May 2, at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, 770 Mt. Auburn St., Watertown, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wednesday from 3-6 p.m. Interment in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, at 12:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445.
