John Joseph Keane Jr., 72, of Sebastian, Fla., passed away Jan. 7, 2013, at Sebastian River Medical Center, Sebastian. Mr. Keane was born Jan. 10, 1940, in Oswego, N.Y. He had been a resident of Sebastian for the past 10 years, originally from Boston. Before retirement he worked as a Boilermaker for Local 29 in Quincy, Mass., in the construction industry. After retirement, he worked for Publix Supermarkets for six years, retiring from Publix last year. Mr. Keane served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church and the St. Sebastian Knights of Columbus Council 8009. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patricia E. Keane of Sebastian; sons, John J. Keane III of Tampa, James P. Keane of St. Petersburg; and sister, Margaret A. Keane of New Port Richie, Fla.; numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends. A visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Seawinds Funeral Home Chapel, Sebastian. A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Sebastian.
