Joseph J. Canale, 81, of Hanson died April 19, 2014, at New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton, after a period of failing health. He was born in Quincy, son of the late James and Blanche (Freeman) Canale and was raised and educated there. Mr. Canale proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Joe had been employed at Raytheon Corporation in Quincy for 35 years as a technician. After his retirement, he opened a lawn mower repair business in Marshfield. He loved fishing, gardening and doing puzzles but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jeannette (Bedard) Canale; and his children, Joseph Canale and his wife Helen of Hanson, Stephen Canale and his wife Kathy of Brockton, Judy Little and her husband Brad of Pembroke, Michele Tedeschi and her husband William of Marshfield and Denise Levy and her husband Marc of Fla. He was the brother of Helen Osborne and her husband James of Brockton and Richard Canale and his wife Sharon of Quincy. Also surviving are six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate his life Friday, April 25, 2014, in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St., Rockland, from 5-8 p.m. A funeral Mass that will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014, in Holy Family Church in Rockland at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
