Peter William Anastos of Braintree, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013. He was born Sept. 11, 1922, to the late Stella and William Anastos. He was a graduate of Braintree High School and proudly served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps during World War ll. For years Peter owned and operated Daily's Farm Store in Braintree. He served on the Board of Directors at the Braintree Co-operative Bank as well as being a member of the Braintree Board of Trade. He contributed to his community throughout his life. He was an active member of the Neighborhood Club of Quincy. Peter was the beloved husband of the late Ethel L. (Brennan) Anastos for 66 years, and the loving father of Linda Oakes and her husband Raymond, Wendy McAllister and her husband David, Debra Cote and her husband Arthur, and William Anastos and his wife Sofya. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was the devoted brother of Eugenia Ludlow of Norwell, Thayer Vallas of Maine, Athena Spoonts of Pennsylvania and the late George Anastos. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Peter's family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who helped care for their Dad. Visiting hours are Monday 4-8 p.m. at the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington Street, Braintree. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, 12 Elm Street, Braintree. Burial is in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
