Richard A. Benson, age 78, formerly of Quincy, died peacefully, Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at home, surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born in Hyde Park, raised and educated there and has lived in Weymouth for thirty years, previously in Quincy. He was a certified arborist, owner and operator of the Benson Tree and Landscape Service in Weymouth for fifty-five years and has been retired eight years. He served in the U.S Army during the Korean War era. Richard was an avid swimmer and loved his pool. He was a garden railroad enthusiast and also enjoyed travelling. Devoted father of Sandra M. Buckley and her husband John of Weymouth. Longtime companion and best friend of Jeanne. Former husband of the late Lorraine A. (Schenck) Stewart. Funeral Services will be conducted at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy on Friday, May 9, at 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours prior to the service from 4 | 7 p.m. Interment private.
