Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, Bob was raised in the Neponset section of Dorchester, and was a resident of Hingham since 1955. A graduate of Mission High School, he received a BA degree from the University of Notre Dame, his M.Ed. from Suffolk University, and was a Doctoral Candidate at the Harvard University School of Education. He was a proud US Navy Veteran of World War II, serving at the D-Day Invasion at Normandy. Bob retired in 1988 following a 36 year career as an Educator in the Boston Public Schools. He was his childrens first and most constant teacher, a steady source of assistance during their school years, whether it was helping them with their homework, giving them extra lessons to advance the talents he saw in them, or spending endless late nights typing term papers for BC High, Notre Dame Academy, Hingham High School, or Xaverian Brothers High School. He was an active member of St. Pauls Parish, where he served as a lector for many years. He was a member of the PTO of St. Pauls School, where he chaired a committee to retain the Sisters of St. Joseph as teachers in the school.
