William R. McNutt, age 71, formerly of Quincy, died peacefully, Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Morton Hospital in Taunton, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born and raised in Boston and had lived in New Bedford for seventeen years, previously in Quincy. He was employed as a sign maker with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Highway Department for fifteen years and had been retired several years. Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He was a life member of the VFW and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Lakeville. He enjoyed sports, motorcycles, cars and skydiving. He was a member of the MA Civil Air Patrol. He was the father of James Manning of Bridgewater; and grandfather of Erin Manning; beloved son of George W. McNutt of Naples, Fla., and the late Phyllis E. (Weaver) Twomey; dear brother of Catherine F. Zamer and her husband James of Attleboro Falls, Barry P. Twomey, Dawn E. Twomey, both of Boston, and the late Charles D. Twomey. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, Wednesday, June 25, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation Wednesday morning from 10-11 a.m. Interment with military honors to follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
