BOILING SPRINGS, SC- Alfred William Allen, 82, died Friday, March 15, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home after an extended illness. He was the son of the late Roy Allen and Selma Allen Tipton.
Mr. Allen was a native of Spartanburg and worked for Milliken for 41years and retired in 1995 from Milliken Packaging. He was a member of Boiling Springs First Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, M. Kay Allen and daughter, Terri Irvin and husband Warren Irvin III; two grandchildren, Warren Irvin IV and Maggie Irvin, all of Columbia, SC; brother, Ralph D. Allen and wife Ann P Allen of Spartanburg; and a nephew, Rodney D Allen and wife Lisa Allen. He was predeceased by his special canine companion Mr. Cole.
The family would like to say a special thanks to all the wonderful doctors and nurses at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center and The Hospice House for all their love and support.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 17 at 1:00 at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs, conducted by Rev. Bobby Lindsay. Visitation will immediately follow.
