Carl Reid Baynard

FOREST CITY, NORTH CAROLINA-- Carl Reid Baynard, age 90 of Forest City died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Autumn Care Center where he was a resident. Carl was born January 30, 1923 in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Virgil Adam Baynard and Thelma D. Amos Baynard. He was a retired Supervisor for Cone Mills Corporation at the Florence Plant, a graduate of Harris High School and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday School Teacher. He was also a United States Army veteran in World War II and a Bronze Star Recipient. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Baynard.
Survivors include a son, Rick Baynard of Rutherfordton, two daughters, Carlotta Wilkerson of Spartanburg and Teresa Kesterson of Sumter, SC, a sister, Betty Webster of Greensboro. There are also six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at two o'clock, Saturday, January 18, 2014, in the Shiloh Baptist Church with Reverend Don Crawford officiating. Interment will follow in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park with military honors accorded by the North Carolina National Guard Honor Guard. Visitation will be from six until eight o'clock Friday evening at Padgett and King. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, Post Office Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
