Clyde Tipton

BOONES CREEK, TN-- Clyde Tipton, 80, entered into rest Monday, July 14, 2014 at Christian Care Center of Johnson City.
Mr. Tipton was a native of Spartanburg, SC and had lived in Boones Creek for many years.
He was a son of the late William McKinley and Annie Mae Allen Tipton and was also preceded in death by his grandparents four brothers, Herbert, James, Johnny and Raymond Tipton and one sister, Eloise West all of Spartanburg, SC.
Mr. Tipton was a Vietnam War veteran and retired from the USAF after 23 years of service and later from TCRA as a security officer after 20 years of service.
He was a member of Boones Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. Tipton was a kind, gentle and soft spoken person who enjoyed spending time outdoors, woodworking, playing golf, building golf clubs and country music.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Reta C. Tipton; one son, Harold E. "Eddie" Newton and his wife, Kim, Kingsport; grandson, Dominic Newton, Kingsport; two daughters, Carolyn Thayer and her husband, Steven, Ft. Worth, TX, Lisa Clark and her husband, Scott, Anchorage, AK; granddaughters, Taylor and Kelsey Clark, Anchorage, AK; two brothers, Harold Eugene and his wife, Yvonne Tipton, Spartanburg, SC and William "George" Tipton, Dalton, GA; one sister, Nellie Tipton Smith, Spartanburg, SC and a special brother-in-law, Harold A. Manning, Johnson City, TN.
The family will greet guests and share memories from 5-7 PM Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services, Johnson City, TN. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday. A Military Honors Committal Service will be held at 10:45 AM Friday, July 18, 2014 at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 10:00 AM. Reverend Kenneth Kyker and Reverend Arnold "Bud" Pate will officiate. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boones Creek Baptist Church, Building Fund, 304 South Pickens Bridge Road, Johnson City, TN 37615.
