SPARTANBURG, SC-- Donald Richard Fortner, 82, husband of Jessie Searcy Fortner, died Monday, April 1, 2013, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills. Born in Mt. Holly, NC, he was the son of the late Dempsey Aubrey Fortner and Anna Martha Fortner.
Mr. Fortner was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Ennis, TX, a veteran of the U.S. Army, a graduate of Belmont Abbey College and a 1954 graduate of the University of South Carolina, a member of My Carolina Alumni Association, a member of the Lions Club in Ennis, TX, and retired as a Sales Consultant with Bill Beck Mercedes.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Donald Richard Fortner, Jr. and wife, Betheny; a daughter, Elizabeth F. Hall and husband, Parker; a sister, Mary Fortner Hook; and grandchildren, Parker W. Hall, III and Graham H. Hall.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Bobo Funeral Chapel officiated by Rev. Jim McMannus. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m.
