Douglas "Mike" Reel
ACWORTH, GA-- Douglas "Mike" Reel, 76, of Acworth, died November 4, 2012. A Memorial Service will be held at 12 noon, Friday, November 9, at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Chapel, Marietta, with Rev. Dr. Tom Davis officiating. Interment is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., Friday, at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton.
Mr. Reel was born and raised in Glendale, SC. He attended Clemson University before joining the U.S. Air Force. After active duty Mr. Reel worked for over twenty years at the Taulman Company in Atlanta and later co-founded instrumentation and control company, MR Systems of Norcross, GA. Mid-career, he rejoined the Air force National Guard and later retired after twenty-three years of service. Mr. Reel was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife and best friend of 43 years, Sheryl Reel Acworth; two sons, Wes Reel and wife, Pam, Kennesaw, and David Trombley and wife, Jarina, Acworth; grandchildren, Brett and Jenna Reel, Kennesaw, Chad, and Troy Trombley, Acworth, and Lacey Mider, Woodstock; one loving sister, Connie Martin and husband, Garner, Simpsonville, SC.
In lieu of flowers, you may make a contribution in memory of Mr. Reel to Loving Arms Cancer Outreach, 50 Plaza Way, Suite C, Marietta, GA 30060; or Cobb County Humane Society, 148 Fairground St, Marietta, GA 30060.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. - 12 noon on Friday at the funeral home.
