Joe Van Pelt

DUNCAN, SC-- Joe Aaron Van Pelt, 73, of 533 S Pond View Drive, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2013. He was widowed from his wife Linda Borden Van Pelt and the son of the late Alvin Van Pelt and Annie Elizabeth Hollimon. He was a member and the Associate Minister of the Duncan Church of Christ. He was also retired from Montgomery Industries as Vice President of the Warehouse Holding Co. for 25 years. Joe was a veteran serving proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Taylor (Scott) of the home; a sister, Gail Hughes of Leona, TN; and a grandson, Aaron Taylor. He was predeceased by a brother, James Van Pelt; and two sisters, Jewel Underwood and Frances Koleno.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, April 19, 2013, at Duncan Church of Christ with Mr. Alan Bright officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 - 11:00 am prior to the service.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, Central Standard Time, April 20, 2013, at the Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Cookeville, TN.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund or the Youth Rally at Duncan Church of Christ, 1234 Danzler Road, Duncan, SC 29334.
