GAFFNEY, SC-- John David Swofford, 43, of 104 Camelot Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 1, 2013.
Born in Gaffney, he was the son of John Waters Swofford and Claudia Webber Swofford of Gaffney. Mr. Swofford was a graduate of Gaffney High School, was employed by BMW, and was a U. S. Navy veteran. David loved kayaking and fishing, and was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his parents, are three daughters, Kalli Brooks Swofford, Kathryn Grace Swofford and Kerigan Victoria Swofford, all of Gaffney; a brother, Todd Ashton Swofford of Gaffney; a sister, Kelly Swofford Van Landingham and husband, Kevin, of Blacksburg; and maternal step-grandmother, Evelyn Webber of Gaffney. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Claude and Frances Webber; his paternal grandparents, Minnie Lou and James M. Swofford; and a son.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 4, 2013, at Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Clyde Thomas and Rev. Stuart A. Kersey officiating. Interment will be in the Waters Cemetery in Cowpens.
