NEW ORLEANS, LA-- Robert Lee Leonard Jr., resident of New Orleans, LA, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 7, 2013.
He is survived by three daughters, Maggie Leonard of Tucson, AZ, Elizabeth (Kevin) Lindsey of Fort Worth, TX and Katie (Steve) Colle of Charlottesville, VA; two grandchildren, Ronan Joseph Lindsey and Lillian Grace Colle, and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Born April 29, 1933, in Greenville, SC to Ruth Brannon and Robert Lee Leonard Sr. He was the youngest of six children with whom he has now been reunited. The first half of his life he spent in South Carolina graduating from Epworth Home and then at Clemson. After marrying in California and serving in the Navy, he settled in Virginia with his new family. The second half of his life he spent in New Orleans where he worked as a seaman, a ship's engineer and a gardener. He was a devoted and passionate follower of Christ and in the end this is how he wanted to be remembered.
With the loving care and support of his nephew, Harold Leonard Jr. and loving friends he was able to spend his final days in his home of 30 years. The family is deeply grateful to them and others who assisted in his care.
Visitation will be held at Wood Mortuary in Greer, SC, Saturday, March 16th, 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. A private burial will follow.
