Warren "Floogie" Ariail, Jr.|
GAFFNEY, SC-- Warren Galloway "Floogie" Ariail, Jr., 88, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at his residence.
Born in Eutawville, SC, he was the husband of Emily Sue Beam Ariail and was the son of the late Rev. Warren Galloway Ariail, Sr. and Essie Smith Ariail. Mr. Ariail was a graduate of Wofford College and was a graduate of Bellview Hospital of Physical Therapy. He was a retired Professional Athletic Trainer working with the following NFL teams in sports medicine: Miami Dolphins, Houston Oilers, Carolina Panthers, Washington Redskins, New Orleans Saints, Hamilton Tigercats (Canada) and also worked in sports medicine for the following colleges: Wofford College, Indiana University, Iowa State University, Gardner Webb University and Wake Forest University. He was also previously employed by the N. C. Department of Education and founded the Sports Medicine Clinic in Shelby, NC. Mr. Ariail was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame, was a U. S. Marines World War II veteran serving in Iwo Jima, and was a member of Buford Street United Methodist Church. The family would like to extend special thanks to Mildred Byars and Laremy Petty for their constant love and care.
Surviving in addition to his wife, is a son, Warren Galloway Ariail, III of Miami, FL; two daughters, Deborah Gauthier of Cowpens and Phyllis Randolph and husband, Arthur of Gaffney; four grandchildren, Michel Gauthier of Greenville, Emily Gauthier of Charleston, Katherine Ker of Spartanburg and Kristine Ker of Asheville, NC; and a great-grandchild, River March. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Smith Ariail and Clyde Milton Ariail; and a son-in-law, Mickey Gauthier.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 PM on Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Buford Street United Methodist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 4:00 PM at the Church with Rev. Linda McNatt and Mr. Josh Crotzer officiating. Interment will be in the Beaufort National Cemetery at a later date.
