William "Bill" Edward Smith

BOILING SPRINGS, SC- William "Bill" Edward Smith, 67, of 2431 Sugar Ridge, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2012. He was married to Dianne Rice Smith and was the son of the late Maudie Scruggs.
Bill was a U.S. Air Force Vietnam veteran, member of Delmar Masonic Lodge #422 and Past President of The Spartanburg Shrine Club, 1983. While serving our country, he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device for Good Conduct Efficiency Honor. He was not only willing to serve our country and defend our freedom, he served his community thereafter upon his return. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert Foster and wife Robin of Roebuck, Travis Smith and wife Nikki of Inman; and his daughter Angie Smith and her fiancé Shane Cothran. He had seven grandchildren, Jessica Cothran, Kyle and Kayla Foster, Cole, Alaina and Case Smith, Kailbe Shields; several nephews and a niece. His sister Mary Farmer preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 am on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs. A Funeral Service will follow in the chapel at 11:00 am with the Rev. Kenneth Cash officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens immediately after the funeral with Masonic and military rites observed.
The family will be at the home of his daughter, Angie Smith, 4853 Hwy 357, Campobello, SC 29327.
