COLUMBUS, NC-- Zeb Ashley Lowery passed away on July 1, 2013. He was a long time resident of Forest City, NC and moved to Tryon Estates, Columbus, NC, in 2006. Zeb was born in Pacolet Mills, SC the son of Charles F. Lowery and Grace Wells Lowery Cook. He was married to Helyn Goode Lowery. Zeb is survived by one daughter, Jody L. Ledford and companion Doug Biggerstaff, of Ellenboro, grandson; Jason W. Ledford, Cherryville, brother: Charles Lowery of Spartanburg, sister-in-law: Fern Porter, Columbus, and several nieces and nephews.
Zeb was in the US Navy, a Graduate of Gardner-Webb University, Vanderbilt University and University of Georgia. He was a coach and teacher at Springfield High School and Roebuck High School in SC. He originated the Guidance and Counseling program in the Rutherford County Schools where he retired. He attended First Presbyterian Church of Forest City. Zeb was an ardent golfer, enjoyed working in his yard, the neighbors on Owens Drive and helping older citizens and young people.
A Memorial Service will be held at eleven o'clock Friday, July 5, 2013 in the Oak Grove Methodist Church with Pastor David Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, July 5, 2013 from 10:15 - 11:00 prior to the service in the sanctuary of the church. Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, NC 28722.
