MOUNTAIN, Billie (Age 94) Billie Mountain passed away in her sleep on July 25, 2014. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Waters in Washington; four grandchildren Brian Waters (Rubi) in Texas, Christie Ostbye (Bryan) in Washing-ton, Julie Waters in New York and Jesse McInturff in California; three great-grandchildren in Texas and two nieces in Michigan. She was predeceased by her husband 'Rocky' Mountain, son Mike McInturff, son-in-law Greg Waters and sister Jeanne Price. Billie was born in Hammond, Indiana on June 11, 1920. Her father died when she was four and her mother raised her and her sister in Cedar Rapids, Iowa during the Great Depression. She received her BA in Physical Education at the University of Iowa after which she joined the Army and was trained in Denver as a physical therapist. From there she was sent overseas to India where she served two years during WWII. While teaching for the Spokane School District she earned her Master's Degree at what was then Eastern Washington State College. Billie was then hired as a school counselor at North Central High School where she remained until her retirement. She moved to Spokane in 1949 but lived the last 40 years at Twin Lakes in Idaho. Billie loved golfing, nature, walking, gardening and her family and had a great sense of humor. She will be missed very much by her family and friends. A small, private memorial will be held later this summer.
