TRERISE, Gladys E. (White) (Age 92) Passed away peacefully in her sleep May 30, 2013 at home in Clarkston, WA. She was born in Denton, MT on January 25, 1921 to David Wilson White and Ethel Claire White (Haslett). Her family moved to Spokane, WA when she was three years old. Gladys graduated from Rogers High School in 1939 as a member of the National Honor Society. Gladys was married to Wayne H. Sandberg from 1940 until 1975 when he passed away. Her career as an Executive Secretary for General Telephone Company spanned over 30 years in Spokane, Coeur d'Alene and Everett. Upon retirement, she moved to Clarkston and married former classmate, Lloyd R. Trerise in 1985. Gladys demonstrated her sharp mind as she worked her daily crossword puzzles and played games of cribbage with friends and family. She also enjoyed an active lifestyle that included golfing, bowling, swimming, dancing and traveling. She was involved in Shriners' activities with both of her husbands. Her sincere and loving nature was evident in the way she treated others and through her friendly smile. The joy she received spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was immeasurable. She captured many fond memories through her love of photography, which she inherited from her father, David. She taught her family to be strong by controlling her diabetes for over 50 years and also surviving breast cancer. Gladys was preceded in death by her infant son, Timmy W. Sandberg; siblings: Lyle White, Leland White, Alton White, Vivian Sheppard, Lorna VanHook; and son-in-law, Steven R. Croonquist. She is survived by her loving husband, Lloyd R. Trerise; daughter, Susan K. Evans-Croonquist; son, Terry W. Sandberg (Toni); and step-daughter, Jamie M. Hudon (Joe). Also surviving are grandchildren: Mari K. Armstrong, Tim W. Sandberg, Kami R. Voliva (Todd), Ty C. Sandberg, Brett A. Slawson, and Travis W. Sandberg, as well as great-grandchildren: Nathan D. Voliva, William B. Armstrong and Debra A. Armstrong. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
