BYERS, Harold Loyd (Age 92) Of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho passed away January 31, 2014 at the Hospice House in Hayden, Idaho. Harold was born June 1, 1921 in Spokane, Washington to Martin and Viola (Paulicheck) Byers. Harold attended and graduated from Lindbergh High School in Valley Ford, WA in 1939. He later joined the Naval Air Transport proudly serving during WWII. After his discharge Harold lived in California for a short time before moving back to Spokane where he owned the Lincoln Heights Lumber Yard on Spokane's south hill. He later worked at a salesman serving the western United States and Alaska selling Caradco windows, and mill work. He eventually retired after 17 years. Harold met the love of his life Florence Wood and they were later married on May 8, 1948 in Spokane, WA. They were married 60 years when Florence passed away in 2008. He was a charter member of the Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church in Spokane, WA. He had played clarinet in the Eagles Club band. Harold was a skilled woodworker, and built every house he lived in. He also built many structures at Camp Spalding on Davis Lake north of Newport. He enjoyed both flower and vegetable gardening, and caring for his fruit trees. Harold is survived by his daughter and her husband Ann and Randy Allen of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; one granddaughter and her husband Jennifer and Jake Howerton of Sagle, Idaho; and two great-grandchildren Brent and Megan Howerton of Sagle, Idaho; and his friend Diane Berger of Spokane, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his loving wife Florence. A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 6th, 2014 at 11:30 A.M. at Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church 4102 S Crestline St, Spokane, WA. The family suggests that memorials may be made to Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church at 4102 S. Crestline St, Spokane, WA 99203, or to the Hospice House at 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835.
