LaVERNE, Joan H. (Patton-Semler) Born March 6, 1937 in Reardan, WA and passed away March 27, 2014 in Spokane Valley, WA. Mrs. LaVerne is survived by her husband of 45 years, Gary at the home. She leaves behind two sons, Dennis (Terri) of Spokane Valley and Doug (Jeannie) Semler of Otis Orchards, WA; four daughters, Donelle (Douglas) Cotter of Colbert, WA, Darla (Robert) Larrison of Spokane Valley, Diana (Bryan) Payant of Pendleton, OR and Debbie (Jim) Repp of Spokane Valley, WA; two stepsons, Cliff (Sheri) LaVerne of Spokane Valley, WA and Paul LaVerne of Spokane, WA., one brother Robert (Joyce) Patton of Spokane, WA; 23 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents and one sister preceded her in death. She was a 1955 graduate of Harrington High School, active in Rainbow Girls and Eastern Star. Joan was a Deputy Sheriff in Colfax followed by working as a bookkeeper for several companies before retiring as office manager at Spokane Restaurant Equipment. She loved spending time with her family, playing the piano, gardening, camping, boating, and attending the Pendleton Round-Up each year. She followed the games of the Seattle Seahawks and the Seattle Mariners. She also attended family sports activities including Special Olympics and enjoyed going to the casino. She is a beloved wife, mom, grandma, sister and aunt. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 5th at Hennessey Funeral Homes, 1315 N Pines, Spokane Valley, WA.
