News Death Notice

BOWDEN, Clayton C. "Clay" 72, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2014 in his residence. He was born March 14, 1941 in Portland, Maine, the son of Clayton C. and Madeline (Bonney) Bowden Sr. Mr. Bowden was a member of the Westside Christian Community Church and the Union Club. He loved to refurbish classic automobiles. Mr. Bowden was retired from the Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine and was a Veteran of the Army National Guard. Survivors include his loving wife; Rachael Elaine (Hawkins) Bowden, two children; Tony Bowden, Florida and Jodi Luke, Circleville, Ohio, two step children; Von Rick Harenberg, Springfield and Bethany (Charles) Schleicher, Martins Ferry, Ohio, one grandson; Spencer Luke, two sisters; Shirley Bowden, Liberty, Maine and Linda (Joe) Escamilla, Eola, Texas, numerous nieces and nephews and special friends; Ernie Jones, Jerry Long, Russ Adams and Ray Hubbard. He was preceded in death by a daughter; Stacey Bowden and his parents. Memorial services will be held at 5:30PM Monday in the Westside Christian Community Church located at 1335 Maiden Lane with Pastor Costy Saba officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00PM until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Mercy Hospice. Mr. Bowden's family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Khanna and his staff and the staff of Community Mercy Hospice for all of their wonderful care and kindness. Arrangements are being handled by the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME.
