News Death Notice

HYLAND, Clyde L. Age 86, peacefully passed August 28. He was born April 18, 1927. He was one of five children of James and Goldie Hyland. He was the father of two daughters and two sons, Gayalene (Eldridge), Keith Hyland and preceded in death by Marcia Kay and Roger Hyland. He is survived by his sisters Marilyn (Ekwall) of Waco Tx , Laura (Weymouth) of Lincoln Nebraska and former wife Betty Hollis of Springfield. He was also proud of his Grandchildren Kevin Eldridge of South Carolina, Kari Hyland of Maryland, Adina Wilson of Springfield, Michelle Tabor of Springfield, Michael Hyland of Fairborn, Philip Eldridge of Dayton, Jamie Hyland of Springfield and one Great Grandchild Joshua Eldridge. Clyde served in the U.S. Navy in both World War II and the Korean War. He made his career as a tradesman specializing in flooring and coverings for nearly 70 years. He was an avid fisherman and spent many days at the lake with his friend and coworker Harlan Skelton. His greatest hobby was dancing and spent much of his later years with friends ballroom dancing at every opportunity. He was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the VFW. He will be sorely missed by friends as well as family. Clyde was a patron of the Anatomical Gift Program at Wright State University, consequently, no services will be necessary. An informal life celebration will take place at C.J. Brown Reservoir, Meadowview/hilltop shelter house 1 PM on September 1. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to Honor Flight Inc. 300 E.
