News Death Notice

URBAN, Donald Lee 78, of Springfield, passed away Friday evening, May 3, 2013 in Essex of Springfield following several months of failing health. He was born in Friend, Nebraska on August 3, 1934, the son of the late Jerry and Minnie (Tuma) Urban. Don retired from the United States Air Force following a 22 year career. During his career in the Air Force, he was deployed in Vietnam for 18 months. Following his retirement, he worked in civil service with D.E.S.C. for 17 years. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 1031. Don was a member of First United Methodist Church, New Carlisle. He greatly enjoyed spending time fishing and bowling with his grandson, Nathan. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Connie E. (Coomer) Urban; five children, James (Carol) Urban of Salisaw, Oklahoma, Ronald (Lisa) Urban of Bentonville, Arkansas, Michelle (David) Carey of Phoenix, Arizona, Mark (Ginger) Hensley of Springfield, and Robin Hensley, also of Springfield; a sister, Loretta Bower of Lincoln, Nebraska; 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cats. He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Urban and a brother, Eldon Urban. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Don's funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Burdsall officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Welfare League, 6330 Willowdale Rd., Springfield, Ohio 45504.
