Edward (Ed) HART Obituary

News Death Notice

HART, Edward "Ed" 81, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014. He was born in Springfield on February 19, 1933 to the late Edward and Dorothy (Collins) Hart. Ed was an engineer for the majority of his professional career, until he found his true calling as an associate professor in mechanical engineering at Clark Technical College. He was the President and member of the Springfield Engineering Club for many years. He started his career at North American in Columbus, Ohio and later went onto to work at Globe Industries, Process Equipment Company, Robbins and Meyers and Spectra Physics. He was a brilliant man who was awarded several patents in his name. He graduated from Northwestern High School, in Springfield, Ohio. He went on to get his bachelors degree from Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio and his masters degree from Wright State University. First and foremost Ed was a loving man who always made time for his family and friends. He was married for sixty years to his high school sweetheart, Marilyn "Joan" (Garst) Hart on June 13, 1953. Ed is survived by his wife and their four children: Lynda Hart of Springfield, James (Cyndi) Hart of Springfield, Douglas (Valerie) Hart of Springfield, and Marilyn Hart of Enon; a sister: Caryl Hart Mueller; five grandchildren: Nicole Hart-Slater, Daniel Taylor, Aaron Hart, David Hart, Robert Hart; four great-grandchildren: Logan Slater, Colten Slater, Austin Slater and Cameron Hart; and many friends and loved one who will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles. Funeral Services for Ed will be on Saturday, March 8th, 2014 at 9:30 AM in Adkins Funeral Home, 7055 Dayton-Springfield Road, Enon (www.adkinsfunerals.com) with Pastor Larry Banick officiating. Family and friends may call upon the family during visitation, which will be held on Friday, March 7th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the Hart family asks that donations be made to the Ed Hart Memorial Engineering Scholarship at 262 Hedge Drive, Springfield, Ohio 45504.
