News Death Notice

BILES, Edward Rodgers 81, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born in Coolville, Ohio on September 11, 1932, the son of the late Allen and Nona (Deeter) Biles. Ed served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from Navistar following 36 years of service. He was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a former leader of Cub Scout Troop #150. Ed also retired from the Springfield Township Fire Department #3, Rockway where he served as chief and graduated with the first paramedic class in Clark County. He is survived by two daughters, Leanna Bryan of Springfield and Laura Biles of Columbus; four grandchildren, Thomas (Jennifer) Bryan Jr., Sean Johnson, Andy Biles, and Samantha Biles; two great grandchildren, Zachory and Taylor Bryan; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna (Lauer) Biles, a son, Brian Biles, grandson, Tyler E. Johnson; three sisters, Margaret, Mildred and Rosemary; and two brothers, Paul and Genie. A service in celebration of Ed's life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
