Gilbert E. CLARK Obituary

News Death Notice

CLARK, Gilbert E. 86, of Springfield, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 30, 2013. He was born on February 11, 1927, in Lancaster, Kentucky, the son of the late Simmie and Loudella (Peace) Clark. Gilbert was a proud veteran in the United States Navy, serving in Okinawa in WWII. He retired from Kenosha Auto Transport after 30 years of service and loved to hunt and fish. The most important part of Gilbert's life was his dedication to his Lord and Savior. He was a longtime member of Northside Baptist Church for over 40 years where he has served as a deacon for many of those years. Gilbert was a devoted Christian and is now rejoicing and has celebrated his first Easter in heaven. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Chris Clark and Garnett and Patricia Clark; grandchildren, Dwayne, Ronnie, Laura, Luann, Nick and Scott; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Linnie Hill and Bertha Montgomery; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Anna Clark; daughter, Juanita Tudor; brothers, William Clark and Simmie Clark Jr.; and sister, Doris Bryant. Viewing will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church, 2425 Derr Rd. A celebration of Gilbert's life will be on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the church. Pastor Kirk Ross officiating. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Gilbert to Northside Baptist Church.
